announcements ahoy

Wow. Today was a doozy for news.
First, the biggest news. Senna Ayase was announced as the next Top Musumeyaku of Flower Troupe. This was on nobody, and I mean nobody's radar. I mean, she is a 94th, she is classmates with Tamakichi, she never had a shinko lead, and she's well out of shinko. Talk about a shocker of an announcement. There is two ways this has played out. Either Mirio actually put her foot down on something and demanded somebody she wanted to work with, or Tom asserted her influence in favoring musumeyaku who she's had leads with.
I personally seem to think it wasn't the smartest choice for Mirio. Yuki (Senna Ayase) is tall, her proportions favor her head, and I don't think her acting is anything spectacular. She does however, have a voice. So while they may look awkward in each other arms, they are going to sound lovely. I think this does bode not particularly well for the odds of Mirio sticking around for a long run. When we see older top musumeyaku we tend to see them with partners that have a limited run. See, Manaka Ayu with Sou Kazuho. Hinami Fuu with Hokushou Kairi. I wouldn't be surprised to see Mirio leave next year, taking Ayase with her.
They will debut with a national tour production of Romanesque Mask and EXCITER!!2017. I don't think the odds of my actress being placed in this show is good, however I'm sure that she will try her hardest. She loves EXCITER!! Which, I can't blame her for. It's one of my favorite shows too.
We also got the counterpart to national tour announcement. Serika Toa will be starring in 『MY HERO』 written and directed by Saitou Yoshimasa. Finally another lead for Kiki! She hasn't had one since Forever Gershwin, back in 2013. And she's grown up, this time she's at Akasaka ACT Theatre and Drama City Theatre. Saitou-sensei is a hit or miss writer/director for me, so I'm interested to see how this one goes. Late 20th Century LA, and with a byline of "Action Musical". I'm intruiged.
On top of those announcements we also got transfers, which was less tragic than I was anticipated given that Cosmos has such a stacked deck compared to other troupes right now. For transfers we have Asami Jun (Moon) and Tsukishiro Kanato (Snow) swapping places. This transfer is super interesting because they both are tracked and classmates. However, they both have younger (and arguably more talented) people breathing down their necks in their respective troupes. Asami Jun is plagued by the 98th Akatsuki Chisei while Kanato has the 97th Towaki Sea breathing down her neck. I'm not sure how this is going to play out, but I'm here to watch it. I think they both will get better merely by being taken out of their comfort zones.
Then we had musumeyaku transfers. Arisa Hitomi and Maaya Kiho will be swapping places. This transfer was not a surprised to anyone I think. Maaya Kiho has been the front runner to be Daimon's top star the moment they announced that Beni had taken Kisaki Airi for her partner. I think them moving Arisa Hitomi to offset it will be good for Star Troupe. They will need a singer when Maaya's beautiful angel voice is gone. In terms of the Daimon/Maaya combi, I'm very excited. They will sound amazing together, that's for sure.
