As expected Nozomi Fuuto and Maaya Kiho were announced the next top stars of Snow Troupe. It's not suprising in the least, but it is still delightful. Congratulations are due to both of them.

I'm not as keen on their debut show as I am on the pair of them. I mean, In the Amber Hued Rain... really? I mean, it is Daimon so this very hanagumi show is not a surprise, but meh. I know the cream of the crop in terms of plays never are really chosen for national tour (looking at you Valencia... looking at you), but whatever. I'm also grumpy on behalf of all the poor Chigi fans who are watching their new top stars tour with their actresses taidan revue with a cheap attempt at rebranding. I see you hankyu.. and I do not approve.

That being said, I'm sure their Grand Theatre debut will be something worth both of their vocal talents. A lot of rumblings about Phantom, which I could get behind. It hasn't been out of the cupboard since Tomu's debut.

I'm not huge into yukigumi these days, but damn, that taidan list. Hugs all around to everyone involved. I'm sure their last show will be worthy of their talents

Well, Rui Makise took the shinko lead. Which was a shock to.. nobody? Child was the wonder-child to look out for  right up until that injury put her out for six months or so. She's reaching the end of her shinko years, so.. yeah. Not a shocker of an annoucement there.

I'm surprised Rara got the heroine lead.  I was pretty confident it wasn't going to Madoka, because lord knows she's going to be stressed enough in the upcoming shows. I figured it would go to the dimpled darling, Hanaki Maia. She's been getting more and more attention recently and she could use the pressure a shinko would provide to really force her to up her game.  But nope, the company went with Rara. I'm a little sad, not going to lie. I love that outfit that Mirion is wearing and I was kinda looking forward to seeing Madoka wear it. Oh well, I'm assuming Madoka will be taking Urara's role opposite the Sun King.

I still don't know what this show is going to look like... rumors say super fun. Which is good, I like fun shows. Give me soragumi being dorks, I coud use it.

Hankyu dropped some bombs last week. Biggest being that following the retirement of Misaki Rion there will be no top musumeyaku of Cosmos Troupe. This was not the announcement that everyone has been waiting for.

Bah. Fucking. Humbug.

All of my friends had assumed that it was either going to be Reimi Urara or Hoshikaze Madoka. Honestly, a week ago I would have assured you that it was going to be Urara. I was just waiting for the official annoucement. Sure, she can't sing a standard musumeyaku part to save her life, but since when has that stopped Hankyu from promoting someone. She's worked with Maakun a lot and most importantly holds the Ikeda bank contract. I'm so shocked that she couldn't straight up just buy the position. That's kinda what I assumed had happened when Mirion announced after Elisabeth that she was leaving.

I can't say that this came out of nowhere. I mean, the thought had occurred to me after the National Tour chirashi had both Urara and Madoka on it, but I had thrown it out. Who does that? Whelp, apparently cosmos troupe this time.

As far as I am aware there are zero rumors about if this was Maa-kun's decision or the company. Although apparently back in the day rumor says it wasn't Sena Jun's decision to not have a partner, so I'm thinking it was the company.  It's also got Maa-kun fans tossing around the idea of taidan. I'm not sure she's ready to tap out yet, but it's hard for me to objectively tell with her. She could announce tomorrow or three years from now.

Either way I feel bad for everyone involved, but mostly the musumeyaku. Reimi Urara lost what essentially was her last chance at being a top musumeyaku but still will have the stress of being placed in large roles in plays. Madoka gets given more time before she's pushed farther into the limelight, for which I am grateful. But at the same time there is zero doubts in anyone mind that this is just a way to split responsibility between Urara and her. Although it does open up doors for some non-tracked ladies to get decent roles if there are any written without the pressure of a top musumeyaku.

-sigh-

There is one light to all of this, room for a transfer for Madoka. Beni's career is looking like it's going to be short and sweet, and Mirio's had a decent run and an older top. Maybe Kiki/Madoka or Coto/Madoka could be in the cards for my future. I would be behind both of these, although Kiki would be ideal. Romeo and Juilette for the Grand Theatre debut. Tell me that is not the perfect show for them. I would get the added bonus of getting to see Taso hopefully play the nurse.

Outside of transfer news, I'm pleased with the lineup. Sakuragi Minato took the bow hall where she gets to play a time traveler who pops into medieval Europe. Maa-kun gets her own dance show. My bet is on Urara being with Maa-kun in the dance show while Madoka get's to play opposite Zun again. I'm happy with both of these choices. Either way, I win.

This does make my timeline to return home a lot easier unless WINE THE SHOW!! brings with it taidan.

Yet again I am the slowest person to get up reviews. At this point is it really even a surprised? Although this time it didn’t help that I utterly adore this show and trying to find the right words in the proper order is hard for me. A gifted wordsmith I am not, anyway here I am. Take me as I am.

During the Bow Hall performance Victorian Jazz Sakura (Ichika) taught me how to make this style, and using that as a base I made this. Because my costumes were a chic black and deep red I thought about how I wanted to make it a little flashy since I was playing an actress, so I looked for flowers to match my character's image and thought about how to arrange it to make it gorgeous. When I saw how the hat matched with my costume I thought a choker would be the best, so I collected antique looking parts and made this.

This necklace I made for Forever Gershwin to matched my duet dance costume. Nonoguchi (director) said that the finale would be set to a club mix, so consider using unusual accessories such as transformed items, asymmetrical designs or things sewn with multicolored beads. I try to reuse accessories I have used in the past, reviving them into something new. But this has strong memories attached so I can't break it up.

I like artbooks so whenever they catch my eye I buy them. Epecially things created by the illustrater Higuchi Yuko are my favorite, she draws the world of cats and animals with a distinctive touch.

Wow. Today was a doozy for news.

First, the biggest news. Senna Ayase was announced as the next Top Musumeyaku of Flower Troupe. This was on nobody, and I mean nobody's radar. I mean, she is a 94th, she is classmates with Tamakichi, she never had a shinko lead, and she's well out of shinko. Talk about a shocker of an announcement. There is two ways this has played out. Either Mirio actually put her foot down on something and demanded somebody she wanted to work with, or Tom asserted her influence in favoring musumeyaku who she's had leads with.

Schedule

Aug. 16th, 2016 10:59 pm
glitra: (Tomu - Bugs)
In a surprise move they announced more of the schedule today, which is strange. They tend to announce on late Friday afternoon these days. I was joking with Carly that I was having such a shit day they were going to announce Madoka's transfer to hanagumi just to really put the cherry on an emotionally shit day.

Instead we got the next Snow Troupe grand theatre. Sagiri Seina and Sakihi Miyu will be doing a play based of Sun in the Last Days of the Shogunate. Wikipedia article here. There is much more information on the Japanese wikipedia page, but my brain is shut off for the night, as I've just watched Vampire Sucessions finale about 10 times a row. Anyway, it's a 1957 black and white movie about the main character "outwit[ting] the inhabitants of a brothel in order to survive in straitened times." Is that not the most Chigi-sounding show ever?! Chigi causing havoc in a brothel. 10/10 sign me up for that shit.

This will be adapted and directed by Koyanagi Naoko, who has done some good stuff before. Lupin III was hers, as was Shangri-la and Shall we Dance. I think we will get a solid Chigi-style adaptation out of this. I'm optimistic. It helps that she has been working with Koike on Elisabeth and has been learning from him.

The show however reads ominous, being titled "Dramatic S". A show written and directed by featuring a startling large amount of "s" themed words. Sagiri Seina. Sakihi Miyu. Snow Troupe. Splendor. Song & Dancing Show. Nakamura Kazunori will be writing and directing. He's done a lot of decent shows, I'm sure he will work something up that's good for yukigumi.

If these don't signal the end of Chigi's reign I will be really shocked. Honestly, I'm going to be sad to see her go. She's a wonderful actress, who has had a wonderful career. If she didn't make my heart hurt and my brain didn't flash giant 'hazard' signs at her gaunt frame I would be happy to see her stick around. Her and Miyu are sunshine and dynamite together.
